All Sunday Bagels

Surprisingly, one can in fact get tired of too much Korean food after a while. However, the great thing about Korea is its broad demand for international cuisine, especially for American food. All Sunday is a great example of this.

Founded on the staple American diet of bagels and coffee, All Sunday is a cafe that is highly frequented by locals during the breakfast and brunch hours. Located in front of Gwanganli Beach, the cafe boasts striking waterfront views in its glass atrium seating area, as well as delicious bagels and drinks for every taste.

The bagels range in style and flavor from your plain old ones with cream cheese, to more unique and trendy ones. The most unique one we saw was a completely black bagel, resembling the color of Hawaii’s black sand beaches. All of the bagels are baked fresh daily, and various types of cream cheese are available in a refrigerator nearby for diners to choose from (comes at an extra cost). Each bagel is usually about ₩3,000-4,000 a piece (prices may vary over time), and there are even sandwich options with deli meat for those wanting a more filling item.

All Sunday is also great with coffee. While there are many cafes in Busan, All Sunday crafts their coffee carefully and with high quality beans. The iced americano (top left, pictured below) is creamy, nutty, and slightly bitter, making it a pleasant pairing with the bagels. The iced americano only costs ₩1,500.

The bagels themselves were so good that we actually came back a second time later that week. Regretfully though, we only have pictures of the food from our first trip, but we will try our best to explain each item:

  • Bagel with Sweet Red Bean Filling (top right): filled with a Korean-style red bean paste (팥), the soft exterior of the bagel combines well with the custardy, sweet red bean filling. If you like sweeter items or things like jelly donuts, this is a perfect item that showcases the Korean taste.

  • Toasted Bagel with Almond and Brown Sugar (bottom right): one of our personal favorites. The exterior is crusted with brown sugar and bits of almond. It can also be toasted by request from the staff, and the interior comes out incredibly soft and fluffy if you do so. The resulting taste is similar to the iced americano but in bread form, combining soft white bread with a nutty and creamy taste that is exceptionally tasty.

  • Cheese Bagel: another great option from All Sunday, especially if you are craving a more savory option. The outside is crusted with parmesan cheese and toasted, giving it an amazing and cheesy smell once out of the oven. The inside is very soft as well, with the exterior crunching when you bite into it. The taste is rich and savory and tastes like there is more than what is presented. It is not sour nor offensive in taste, but delicately balanced and projected through the warm bread.

  • Strawberry Latte: a heavier drink option for sure. One can choose normal milk or substitute it for non-dairy options. It is essentially a tall glass of milk with crushed strawberries at the bottom. While we expected it to be overly sweet, it is surprisingly light and most notably, refreshing. It does not leave the diner feeling heavy or bloated afterwards, and the freshly ground strawberries have an amazing flavor to them that cannot be beat by convenience store flavored milks (iykyk).

All Sunday was packed whenever we passed by it, and again, the locals from the area especially seemed to favor this spot quite a bit. And it is for good reason.

With delicious bagels and a beautiful view, All Sunday is a fantastic spot for a quick bite in the morning before heading out for your next adventure.
