Westville (Dumbo)
As many know, Dumbo is a hotspot for tourists and visitors from all over the world. At times, it can seem hard to find a restaurant that feels neighborly and “authentic” in the area. Westville in the Dumbo neighborhood of Brooklyn fills that void nicely.
Located just literal steps away from the iconic views of the Manhattan Bridge, Westville’s exterior itself is modest and kind of unassuming. Although there are eight locations of Westville in New York City at the time of writing this article, the Dumbo location stands out due to its views and ambient outdoor patio. Upon entering, guests are greeted by a cozy dining room that is simple yet inviting. The plain white walls complement the industrial pipes on the ceiling and the wooden support beams stretching across the restaurant.
The outside patio is also a pleasant seating area worth mentioning. It is perfect for larger groups and for dining outside when the weather is nice. The green umbrellas and plants sit beneath a shaded canopy overhead, making for a relaxing visual atmosphere.
While I have not been to Westville for lunch or dinner, I can definitely say that brunch is killer here. The local favorite for brunch is the breakfast burrito, and rightly so. It is massive and is wrapped with scrambled eggs, chorizo, gouda cheese, and shallots inside. It is then topped off with a smoky chipotle sauce alongside either a side of marinated onion salad or potatoes (I highly recommend the potatoes option between the two). There isn’t much else to say about the burrito other than that it is just a solid meal to enjoy, especially if you’re hungover from the night before.
The service at Westville is also great, and the servers keep the atmosphere lively and energetic in the mornings. For those looking for a delicious and local brunch experience right next to the iconic Manhattan Bridge in Dumbo, look no further than Westville.
